I write as a concerned citizen from Chicago to urge federal deregulation of education, restoring teacher freedom from rigid state and federal scripts.

Our current system prioritizes rote memorization and conformity over genuine understanding. Cognitive research and neuroscience show that curiosity-driven, inquiry-based learning activates motivation centers in the brain, builds stronger critical thinking, and improves long-term retention. When students only memorize—with understanding as an afterthought—they become bored, disengaged, and misbehaved, lacking the independence to reason, question and solve problems.

Politically, this top-down conformity expands the administrative state you have opposed, undermining local control, parental rights, and the intellectual self-reliance essential to a free republic. Students educated this way contribute little of self-worth because they never develop the skills to think independently.

I respectfully request your administration pursue deregulation by reducing federal mandates tied to funding, protecting teachers’ ability to adapt lessons creatively, and promoting school choice. Empower teachers to inspire curiosity and equip students with real reasoning skills rather than scripted compliance.

This reform would strengthen American liberty by cultivating independent thinkers, not compliant test-takers. Thank you for considering this vital request.

Sincerely,
